Endgames: a few ideas win most of them
Each lesson is one technique you can see on the board: the box that shrinks around a king, the key squares in front of a pawn, the opposition, the square of the pawn, the bridge and the third rank. Watch it drawn move by move, then play it yourself against perfect defence: the tablebase judges every move exactly.
Basic mates
Mate a lone king: the techniques every player must own, and the one that cannot be done.
King and pawn
The opposition, key squares and the square of the pawn decide every pawn ending.
Queen against pawn
When a queen beats a pawn on the seventh, and when it cannot.
Rook endings
The two positions every rook ending is measured against: Lucena wins, Philidor draws.
